New hiring center opened next door!

HENDERSON — When Tracy Madigan moved to Henderson with her family in the early 1970s, “everything” was downtown. The Chesapeake, Virginia, native frequented Rose Gin and Supply Co. for horse tack and frequently ran into familiar faces on the street while out on the town.

Madigan hopes to recapture that sentiment as the city of Henderson’s downtown development manager, a position she assumed in April, and one that is essential to the city maintaining Main Street America accreditation through the N.C. Department of Commerce.

“I would love to see downtown become central again,” Madigan said. “But in a different way ... Get it to be a real mixed-use where you’ve got the restaurants, you’ve got entertainment. What other town the size of Henderson can say they’ve got a McGregor Hall? And look at our library and all of the wonderful things that they can bring in for us. Just to make [downtown] vibrant once again.” Full article here.

If you look closely, you can see the Gear & Beer Feather Flags in the background. :)
